Good Grief. Give It Up Already

Officer, Overton-Clapham, and Jones.... all three.... have been curling horribly. A steal of one, a steal of three, and now Scotland leads 10-3 after 7 ends.

Time to pop in a DVD and give it up. As the 8th end starts, Ray Turnbull says, "It's all over." and Scotland is throwing their rocks through the rings.... already!.... in the 8th end!

A quick question for you Canadians:

I've noticed that the commenting on TSN re: Team Jones has become very acidic. Is that a sentiment that is beginning to grow in Canada, or is it simply the byproduct of mass anonymous commenting?

(Here in the States, it's guaranteed that the most unreasonable people will carpet-bomb ESPN, et al. in the comment threads. But I don't want to blindly assume the same elsewhere.)

I think there's a pretty strong sense of disappointment and frustration on the part of curling fans. The Jones rink has lost a number of play-off games over the past six years despite winning so many round-robin games.

This sense of disappointment and frustration does indeed tend to bring out the negative comments everywhere, as one might expect, including by me, here.

The disappointment I understand. From my POV it's a fantastic team that gets a little snakebit in international playoffs. Are they on a decline over the last few years?

And if so, would Jones make some roster changes - perhaps targeting some of the upcoming younger curlers?

Thanks again.
