More on Shirts

In the afternoon draw, two players from Korea (T. Kim and S. Kim) had their shirt tails out. Svae of Norway started with his tucked in but it was out by the end of the first end. And so far as I could tell, the entire French team plays with their shirt tails not tucked in. All the players of Denmark, US, Canada, Germany, and Switzerland play with their shirt tails tucked in. I'll have ask about the differences.

Too bad Team Canada didn't have shirts with green on them this afternoon. Maybe this evening?

More Fashion News from the World of Curling

It appears during this morning's draw that three of the four players from Sweden are wearing their shirts without the tails tucked in. So are one player from Scotland and at least one from China. The rest of the 32 players on the ice all have their shirt tails tucked in, though Svae's (Norway) is slowly coming out.

Shirt Update

Yesterday I remarked that most players curl with their shirts tucked in. I also promised to update the readers on this vital fashion concern. So here is the situation as the teams in the 8th Draw are in the the 4th end:

• Sheet A: all the curlers for both the US and Canada have their shirts tucked in.
• Sheet B: all the Czech curlers have their shirts tucked in. It looks as if one of the Korean curlers might have his shirttail out, and I cannot tell about skip Lee. I'll have to ask him personally.
• Sheet C: all the Swiss curlers have their shirts tucked in. So do all the Danes.
• Sheet D: one Norwegian and one French curler have their shirttails out.

Let me add that because ALL the players are wearing cordless mikes, wearing a shirttail untucked requires either bunching it up at the microphone or covering the mike.

I don't recall: how many (if any) women curlers wear their shirts untucked in?

Norwegian King to Model Argyle Curling Pants

Those pants are really popular. Even the King of Norway will sport a pair soon.

The Norwegian team is giving a pair of its trademark eye-popping pants to King Harald, who is slated to be in the audience Tuesday for his country’s final round-robin game at the Olympics. Norwegian skip Thomas Ulsrud talked to the King over the phone recently.

“I said what if the Norwegian curling team wanted to give you some curling pants? Would you accept them?” Ulsrud explained. “He said ‘Sure, they’re the coolest pants I’ve ever seen.’

“So just because we have some funny pants we get to hang out with the King or Norway and give him some pants and have some laughs with him that would be awesome.” ...

“Of course we knew when we put on these pants it was going to attract some attention,” Ulsrud said.

“We thought this could be good for curling in Norway but I would never dream that we would just hang out with the king and be wearing the same pants and could say — ‘Hey you look cool, King.’”

Skirts!

The Danish women's curling team is wearing skirts in tonight's game against Canada at the 2010 Olympics. I don't remember noticing them in a previously televised game. And I didn't realize any women's curling teams still wore skirts. Interesting...

Norwegian Men's Curling Pants -- More

As I watch this morning's draw between Canada and Sweden, I notice every once in awhile from the adjoining sheet that the Norwegian men curlers are wearing argyle pants, but today's have a red base instead of the white base that appears in all the photos. Does anyone have a good photo of the red ones that we can use?
